Cosgrove High School Noticeboard

WARNING: the contents of this email may be distressing for some individuals.

Dear families

As we prepare to return to school next week, I wanted to provide you with an update on the supports that will be available to students following the loss of Year 8 student, Jesse Hall.

I understand that the past week has been a difficult time for many of our students, particularly those who knew Jesse well. Supporting those affected by this incident, including the families immediately involved, students, staff, and the broader school community has been our priority, and this will continue when school returns.

Student attendance on the first day of Term 2, Monday April 28, will be important to ensure they can access appropriate support.

We will have a range of support in place including designated School Support staff (School Psychologists and Social Workers allocated to each Grade group during period 1 and 2, a whole school assembly to acknlowdge and pay our respects to Jesse and his family, as well as access to more individual support from Monday onwards.

There will be students and staff attending Jesse's funeral on Wednesday and we will be developing plans to accomodate the operation of the school during this time. As such we may gain an indication of who will be attending during the first two days of term 2. If this applies to your young person(s) please be encouraged to inform the school prior to Wednesday.

In the coming days/weeks we will also provide more information about plans to remember Jesse’s time with us at Cosgrove High School.

Below are more links to information around support available for your child and yourself outside of support that will be offered on-site at school.

We may all need support over the coming weeks and months to process this event, and we need to find the support that works for us, at a time that we are ready. Please be aware that support is always available.

If you feel your child needs additional support, please reach out to me.

Our thoughts and condolences remain those impacted by this incident.

Anthony Coe, Principal
