Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Cosgrove High School

Named after Sir Robert Cosgrove a former Tasmanian Premier, Cosgrove has a long and proud history. The school began as a series of Musset huts in 1950s and it was within these humble beginnings the spirit of Cosgrove was born.

Our motto, Each for All reflects the Cosgrove sprit. We are a strong and proud team; standing together as a school community to support one another.

Cosgrove is a school that cannot be solely measured by a standardised test alone. We are a school community that measures its success in its ability to engage and foster the development and growth of each and every one of our students. This is captured within our school vision: Every Student, Every Day Engaged in Learning.

We believe that all students are capable of experiencing success in learning. Our team works collaboratively to support all students to engage in meaningful, relevant learning experiences that enrich their lives and provides them with the skills to be respectful, resilient and responsible citizens. Our strong focus on engagement and wellbeing facilitates improvement in academic and social outcomes.

Students are supported in their engagement at school through a focus on School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support with a shared statement of expected behaviours, The Cosgrove Way, making explicit what we expect of our students in how they will conduct themselves in accordance with our school values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility.

It is an exciting time to be part of the team here at Cosgrove, in part owing to the extension to Year 11 in 2021 and the intention to provide career pathway opportunities into the allied health services, and engineering and manufacturing industries (both in the top three employment industries for the greater Glenorchy area). An ongoing collaborative partnerships with these key industry areas is evolving, in order to further enhance the engagement and provide exciting opportunities for real-world mentoring, work exposure and / or program development.

Our impressive growth will be further complimented and supported by the State Government’s commitment of 20M toward Cosgrove’s revitalisation.  Consultation with the community has taken place and is progressing toward concept development stage. It will be exciting to see the following from consultation come to fruition in the not too distant future:

  • Improved infrastructure: Development of physical facilities that will reflect and support innovative approaches to learning.
  • Teaching and Leaning: – develop clear career pathways to local and growth industries.
  • Relationships/Partnerships – develop partnerships with local businesses and agencies to support our student
  • School Culture –  Build on our strengths; inclusive, positive, supportive, adopting a strong focus on health and wellbeing and continue to  celebrate our cultural diversity.

We are working with architects to develop a concept master plan.  Once this is finished, these plans will be conveyed to the community for feedback in 2021.

Please explore our website as I am sure you will find what you are looking for and never hesitate to contact the school if we can be of any assistance at all.
