Student Leadership

There are a variety of student leadership programs in place at Cosgrove High School, which reflects our desire to harness student voice and have studnet partner with us in our journey of continuous school improvement. Our efforts in developing student leaders were recognised in 2019 when we were awarded the 'Student Voice' award from the Commisioner for Children and Young People.

Prefect Board

Through an intense application and interview process, students are selected as members of our Prefect Board. Throughout the history of student leadership at CHS, the Prefect Board have a significant role in representing our school at local events of importance, student transition days, information evenings and hosting our whole-school assemblies. The Prefect Board also identify passion projects and work to achieve goals in their chosen area.

Sports Leaders

Sports leaders provide visible leadership to students on sports carnival days and by organising break-time activities and rosters for younger students. Our Sports Leaders are also the House Captains for our three House Teams: Barton Bulls, Parkes Panthers and Hughes Hawkes. Sports leaders also regularly assist our local primary school with their carnivals and other similar events.

Peer Support - #Grove

Each year Year 10 students are trained to become Peer Support - #GROVE leaders.  #GROVE members are paired with another mentor and together they lead mentoring sessions with small groups of Year 7 students once a week, establishing trusting relationships with older students and positive role models within the school.

Lets Get Together program

Cosgrove High School has a valued partnership with Let’s Get Together and implements their ‘Fairer World’ in Year 7. Let’s Get Together is strengths-based, asking students what they, and others around them, can bring to creating a school environment where everyone feels safe and included. By using their own resources, they can experience the transformative power of making a difference. More information can be found here: http://afairerworld.org/lgt.
